Building STEM Bridges: Our Partnership with MathU Teaching Emporium

In a world driven by innovation and data, the benefits of taking mathematics and science extends far beyond the classroom. These subjects are the foundation of opportunity, opening doors to careers and a future in the ICT field. At The Fanaka Foundation, we believe that every learner regardless of their background should have access to quality education.

That belief has recently taken shape through our exciting partnership with MathU Teaching Emporium. An organisation that is dedicated to transforming the way learners and educators engage with maths and science. By combining technology with accessibility and forward thinking, MathU is making it easier to monitor progress, develop knowledge and ignite understanding.

This journey has already begun to change lives across South Africa with two inspiring schools. In the Western Cape, we continued our long-standing partnership with Portia Primary School. We recently assisted their Grade 7 learners in this critical learning stage where foundational knowledge forms future academic success. Approximately 90 learners received MathU licences, mobile phones to access the platform and learning materials. This creates confidence in solving problems and the ability to dream bigger.

In Soweto, we partnered with Forte High School that stands as a beacon of resilience within its community. Despite the challenges often faced in under-resourced and under-supported environments, this school continues to prioritise their learners’ success.

Recognising their commitment to growth, we extended support to over 140 learners from Grades 10 to 12. By providing access to MathU memberships and mobile phones, we are equipping these students with the resources that they need to excel in STEM and access tertiary education opportunities that may have once felt out of reach.

Mathematics and science are bridges to careers in computers, engineering, medicine and physics. When one learner succeeds, the ripple effect reaches fellow students and families.

From early learning to tertiary education and beyond, we are committed to supporting learners at every stage and age. We encourage curiosity, reward perseverance and celebrate every lesson learnt!
